How many Reddit users live in New Zealand?
The population of New Zealand, according to Census data released this week, has grown by nearly 300,000 people since 2011, according the Ministry of Social Development.
“New Zealand’s population is now at an all-time high, and that growth is driven by a large number of people who are looking for work and who have had a better quality of life,” said Social Development Minister Judith Collins.
This means, for example, that people who were unemployed last year will be working again in the new year, as a result of the strong economic recovery.
“In New Zealand today, there are more people working than ever before.
That’s good news for all New Zealanders, including those living in remote communities who can’t find work.”
The population of the state of New South Wales has also grown, but is at the same time shrinking.
While the population of NSW has grown from 11.3 million people in 2011 to 13.6 million in 2021, the population growth has been a little slower, with the population growing by 1.3 per cent from 2011 to 2021.
According to the Ministry, this is partly because there are fewer people living in the state than in the previous years, but also because there were fewer people in the region.
“This is partly due to the closure of the Northern Territory and South Australia in 2021.
However, it also reflects that a significant number of older people are retiring in the Northern and Southern Territories.”
The number of Australians aged 65 years and over has also increased from 8.6 per cent in 2011-12 to 10.4 per cent this year.
However, in the same period the number of Australian-born people living abroad has also been rising, from 7.3 to 8.2 per cent.
The number who have lived in Australia since they were born is also increasing, from 2.3 billion to 2.5 billion.
“It’s an encouraging statistic that the Australian population has grown in the last 10 years, and it shows that we have more people living here than at any other time in recent history,” said Collins.
“But there is more to be done.”
As of 2021, New Zealand’s total population stood at around 14.8 million.
