Boise, Idaho population: 8.8 million
Boise, ID, Aug. 25, 2018.
— The Boise area has more than 8 million residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
This number includes the city of Boise, which has a population of just under 3 million.
The population is a little higher than the 8.3 million mark for the state of Idaho, but that is due to Idaho residents living farther away from Boise.
Boise’s population is slightly higher than Idaho’s average, at 7.2 million.
The census bureau released its 2016 population report Wednesday.
The metro area with the largest population is Boise, where more than 1.6 million residents live.
The Census Bureau estimated that the metro area had 1.8 billion people in 2020, making it the eighth-largest metropolitan area in the United States.
